Wow! The school year is complete as of yesterday we are all officially finished! We now have Jacob's last year of preschool and Megan's 2nd grade to look forward to! Megan was sad on her last day because she says she wants to stay in 1st grade. I remind her that her and her friend Kambry might be in the same class again next year and I think she's nearly in summer mode now! Jacob keeps talking about how he is so excited about being in Miss Lisa's afternoon class so we'll see how that goes!
I'm excited to be home for the summer and have so many lists going that should keep us fairly busy. My first couple of days have started off rocky with lots of screaming and fit throwing I think they are trying to test me! I also managed to break my computer somehow (from everything I understand the hard drive is toast but a computer guy friend is looking at it next week). Then I was the one running the lawn mower when it stopped working and then I also managed to break Megan's outdoor chair because all the kids were piled on my lap and the chair was under my feet...definitely not the start I was looking for but hopefully things will look up from here!
Megan is part of "American Heritage Girls" which is similar to Girl Scouts but is more Christ-centered and is aligned with Boy Scouts. She's participated this past year but hopefully next year we can participate in the volunteering side of things too. That's what I love about the program too is that they focus a lot of their energies on service to others.
Michael and I enjoyed a date night complete with the Opening night of Iron Man 3. There was also a comic convention in town so they dressed up and came to the theater to take pictures. Apparently the dressed up guys with guns didn't sit so well with some of the people who thought it was insensitive after the theater shooting for Dark Night.
Jacob loves playing in my office at school. He says he's having his "small group" in my office. Small group is part of his day at school.
This is a picture of a fun thank you giant card that one of the families made. I am really going to miss them!
Emily was helping after soccer and then started pouting into the balls! We are blessed to have a soccer coach that helps the group of 1st graders practice and scrimmage. There are about 20 kids on the "team" and Jacob plays with the younger siblings for about 20 minutes before the big kids get started. It's very relaxed and fun, exactly the type of soccer we need!
Emily came to drop Jacob off one day and posed for a quick picture!
Jacob loves to pretend. He is pretending ship and castle here.
Emily has embraced her ladybug ride she got for Christmas!
It has been very cool this spring but one day it was unusually hot and we decided to get the sprinkler out. Megan and Jacob love it...Emily wasn't a big fan which surprised me because she usually is a dare devil!
I love this action shot of Jacob!
We went to the lake with only Jacob and Megan. Overall they did great!
Megan posing on the horse for a picture!
Rock climbing at the park!
On the way home Jacob couldn't quite make it and so cutely fell asleep with his hand in the animal crackers!
Emily continues her love of Minnie Mouse and we are letting her. Here she is all dressed up.
Wow! It's amazing how different a day can be from a single picture. In this picture the kids are at Hobby Lobby sitting so sweetly smiles ear to ear. However, the entire morning was screaming and yelling and just not a good start to the day.
Megan posing with her 1st grade teacher Mrs. Gonzales. We are really going to miss her! Megan made such progress this year!
The kids use the giant lego bricks everyday. Their current favorite thing to do is make a cage on one side of the hallway and pretend to be animals (usually tigers).
I have to admit our summer nights are fun so far. The weather has been cool and the kids have enjoyed the freedom of playing in the yard. Tonight they found a turtle, researched what it needed, and then kept peeking from the deck to look to see if it was exploring yet. Megan is in heaven!
