Mud!!!

The kids decided to make and play in the mud puddle the mole so graciously made for us. It has been so much fun seeing them scoop, dump, splash, etc. in the mud!
Jacob eating the mud! His memory is clearly short because he tries this at least once a day.
Jacob really likes to carry this around...I worry for our toes!
I keep waiting for Jacob to land head first into the puddle! Both kids really like to feel the mud ooze through their toes!

Ahh, our Megan has come so far. She used to not want to get dirty and now she is making mud pies!
This is a fussy action shot. The kids fight constantly over this silly green bucket. We have at least 4 other buckets but that doesn't matter they both want this one sooo bad!

I Spy Bottles!

This is the activity we (my mom, Michael, Megan, and I) did for the Parents As Teachers carnival. I could not have done it without their help. I think we are going to do it again next year but we'll see! Before the event Michael said "ehh" as in "don't do this to me again" but afterwards we all sat down and they agreed to help again for next year although we must have a better system!

Here is Megan sitting in Jacob's high chair helping fill the bottles. The Coke bottles worked the best but they were a pain to scrape off and then goo-gone the sticky stuff. Megan loved helping out and she was a great help, we actually kept giving her more items to fill for the assembly line!

A not-so-good picture of the empty bottle of items for I Spy, there were 17 items for the kids/parents to find after they filled it with sand (lego, bead, Q-tip, penny, crayon, etc.)
Ahh, the final product! We bought sand the night before and we were sold wet sand...we didn't know this until right before the event...grrrr after all that hard work I was aggravated because wet sand just would not work for this project. Luckily we were able to use the sand from the drop-in-play center and a few bags of dry sand that was bought a long time ago! Overall I think it was a success and the feedback I have so far is that the kids and parents are having fun finding the items!

Adam's Preschool Graduation

Our nephew Adam had a cute Piggy Opera program and graduation. Here he is leading the group into the room! The program was adorable and Megan is looking forward to her new preschool for next year!

Date Night!

This past weekend Michael's parents took the kids to their house so we could have some time together. The timing was perfect because my visits are over and the carnival (pictures coming soon!) was over as well. We decided to invite Jon and his new girlfriend Laura out and we had a great time at Prison Brews and then back to the house for some Wii Resorts and Wii Fit. The guys really got into it and the hula-hoop is the best! Anyways, we had a great time and it was great to have a date night!
I just love their expressions! I think they were sword fighting at the time!
Here is a picture of Jon and Laura watching Michael make a fool of himself!

Mother's Day Cake :)

OK, so here's the story! At Jacob's birthday party we were discussing how the basketball cake was made and I told the group the shape of the cake mold...well then Michael's mom said that her mom (Michael's grandma) would love a bikini cake and we decided Mother's Day would be the perfect time! OK, so for the record, I was simply baking a cake someone asked me to do :)
Needless to say, Michael's grandma loved it and she took it home with her! There were lots and lots of jokes after the cake was brought out and some of the people in attendance were a tad embarrassed but it was great!

Kiddos!

Jacob and Megan have changes so much in the past few months. Jacob can now say about 7 or 8 words and he uses his hands to tell us what he wants too! He understands what we say, especially when it relates to going bye-bye or outside...or Megan of course! He climbs everywhere and once he's on the couch he gets a huge smile on him face. His newest skill in spinning in a circle over and over until he falls down...very nerve-wracking for mommy!
He loves to spike his hair with his food, this day he used mashed potatoes!

Megan decided to line her animals up after Jacob went to bed one night, they are all facing the same direction going on parade!
The kids were at the drop-in-play center one day building with the cardboard bricks until brozilla finally got his way and knocked them down (in his defense I think it was already falling)!

Grandma Dierking, Megan, and Adam peeling the apples for apple pie.
This was the first time I've seen an apple peeler and I'm in love! This thing is great!
All gone!

Random Things!

Poor Michael! We were playing outside a few weeks ago and apparently Megan got into some poison ivy. We unwittingly let her pull leaves off the bush by the side of the yard and this was a small portion of the results. Michael had poison ivy all over, went to the Dr. and got a shot which did nothing, steroid medicine which helped a little, and now he is still itchy and getting the lovely bubbles. This picture below is crazy because it shows all of Megan's hand and fingers where she touched him. All that I can say is Thank God Megan is not allergic to poison ivy!

A handprint from Megan that Michael will not forget anytime soon!
This is a picture of the water in our basement as a result in the city replacing pipe next door under the storm drain. All of a sudden there was water everywhere and when I asked the men working they just said "we'll be done soon." Grrr. I'm glad we don't have a finished basement yet!
